The losses s of the steam turbines are given as..
1- INTERNAL LOSSES
Losses directly connected with the steam conditions while in
its flow through the turbine are called “internal losses.
They may further classified as:-
1- Losses in regulating valves.
2- Losses in nozzles
3- Losses in moving blade
·
Losses due to trailing edge wakes
·
Impingement losses
·
Losses due to leakage of steam through the
angular space.
·
Friction losses
·
Losses due to turning of the steam jet in
blades.
·
Losses due to shrouding Leaving
4 Leaving velocity losses (exist
velocity)
5- Losses due to friction of disc
carrying the blades and wind age losses.
6 Losses due to clearance between the
rotor and guide blade disc.
7 Losses due to wetness of steam.
8 Losses in exhaust piping.
2 EXTERNAL LOSSES.
These losses not influence with steam condition.
Its
may be classified as.
1- Mechanical losses.
2- Losses due to leakages of steam from
the labyrinth gland seal.
